Use when the user provides a Japanese postal code such as 7830060 or 100-0001 (send digits only) and needs the prefecture, city, and town it belongs to, including half-width katakana readings and the JIS X 0401 prefecture code. Boundary codes can return multiple matches. Coverage is Japan Post KEN_ALL town-level data only: match_found:false with zero matches means the code has no KEN_ALL entry — either genuinely unassigned OR a real, assigned large-office individual code (大口事業所個別番号, e.g. 100-8111 for the Imperial Household Agency), which zipcloud does not carry. A no-match is honest and not an error, but it is NOT proof the postal code does not exist. Do NOT use for reverse lookup (address to postal code), non-Japanese postal codes, or partial/prefix search — the upstream only supports exact 7-digit lookup.
